(The Last) Bill Frisell Concert Update! More Audio Links

So this could be the last Bill Frisell concert update, how sad! Unless a broadcast or ROIO of the May 1st gig appears, and then I’ll be writing about that one too.

The ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) tonight played the 2nd half of Bill’s May 2nd Melbourne concert. Last Sunday I posted the first half set list (Lost Highway, Strange Meeting, Sub-Conscious Lee, Mood) and promised I’d post the set list for the 2nd half, so here ’tis:

Days Of Wine and Roses, Baba Drame, Keep Your Eyes Open, Lovesick Blues, What The World Needs Now, That Was Then.

The last three songs were encores, about 20 minutes altogether. If I remember correctly, while the applause was happening after ‘What The World Needs Now’, Bill looked over at Tony Scherr, briefly raised his index finger and said “one more”. You get your money’s worth when you see a Bill Frisell gig!

Once again, ABC have put up a streaming audio version of the ‘Jazztrack show that contained Bill’s songs. That stream can be found here: http://www.abc.net.au/classic/jazztrack/

This week’s realplayer stream sounded best, but last week windows media was better - I don’t understand why. I managed to record about half an hour straight from my radio, and it turned out pretty well too!

Don’t forget to have a listen to the ABC’s 25 minute interview, also recorded on May 2nd, where he plays a beuatiful version of ‘Shenandoah’:

Bill Frisell, genre-bending guitarist

I’d love to see an official release of the Australian shows, maybe as part of the billfrisell.com download series…

Here’s hoping!

Nick
